New Site // 2011-10-02

I re-launch all of the time, so this should really be surprising to nobody. It’s part of a bit of a “clean-up” I’m trying to do on my Internet presence. I have long thought about what it means for me to be doing this “Internet Blog” thing – and after reading a lot of the various Mac bloggers out there, I think I’ve got a bit of a deeper understanding of what I want to do with my presence here on the Interblags. In the interest of creating a set of rules…

    1. This is not a micro-blog or a link-sharing site. I might post a link to Twitter, but really, if I want to write, it’s going to be fairly original. It may be highly discussed, but this is mine, and I want it to stay that way.
    2. This is not a discussion forum. In service of that, I’m not going to be putting up a comments area or enabling comments on posts. In fact, it’s not even reasonably possible for me to add comments. The whole site is built in static HTML.
    3. I’m still figuring a lot of things out. I’m young, and although I’ve been writing things on the Internet for a long time, I haven’t really had a very specific and identifiable Web Presence.
    4. The article goes up when I’m finished writing it. One of the things I’ve done in the past is schedule articles well in advance. This was partly because at the time, my workflow involved writing a lot of things over a day or so, and then spreading the publication of those things out over the next few weeks. This meant that from time to time, the sequencing of when readers learned about things I was doing or writing was a little bit crazy.
    5. Work on the site every week. A lot of the Mac bloggers I look at work on their site and write for it and post things to it every day. I just don’t have that kind of energy, as I’m working on other things, and I’m not yet interested in or trying to be a full-time blogger.
    6. I’m not a Mac blogger. I refer to them a lot, but I’m just not. In fact, Mac OS and iOS are great, but for some reason, it’s difficult for me to get my work done there.

I’m sure there are some other things I’m missing, but this is what I’ve got for now. A lot of this blog is going to be about me discovering my own life, which is weird, but seems to be a popular thing to do.
